THE COUNTERFEIT OBJECT OF WORSHIP

  • 20. Why is the object of worship bestowed by the Gakkai a “counterfeit object of worship?”
  • 21. Why does Nichiren Shoshu say that the object which results from copying Nichikan Shonin’s Gohonzon “is not Nichikan Shonin’s object of worship” and “is a great slander which turns its back upon Nichikan Shonin’s heart?”
  • 22. The Gakkai says, “Nichiren Shoshu will not bestow the Gohonzon upon us, so we have no choice but to make our own copies and bestow them upon our members.” Is this true?
  • 23. If the person who worships it has the “power of faith” and the “power of practice,” those powers themselves will manifest the “power of the Buddha” and the “power of the Law” in a copied object of worship. Is this assertion correct?
  • 24. What will result from worshipping a counterfeit object of worship?
  • 25. Does “No benefits can be derived from a counterfeit object of worship” mean that benefits can be derived from a traditional Gohonzon worshipped by a Gakkai member?
